GENERAL COMPETITION RULES
1. The entrance fees shall be agreed at the A.G.M. of the Association, per player per event, payable at the time of entry. Such entries on the Official Form signed by the Club’s Honorary Secretary shall be in the hands of the Association’s Honorary Competition Secretary by the date stipulated on the form.
2. The Competitions shall be confined to the Clubs which have joined the Association and have paid their affiliation fee for the current year. No restrictions shall be placed on any member playing in more than one competition but shall not play for more than one club in any competition.
3. IN LINE WITH BOWLS ENGLAND RULES, ALL PAIRS, MIXED PAIRS, TRIPLES AND RINKS WILL NOW BE EIGHTEEN ENDS.

5. The competitions shall be played under the laws of the I.B.B. and the rules of BOWLS ENGLAND. All singles matches shall be played to 21 shots and shall be under the management of the Officers of the Association, who shall determine all questions or disputes that may arise and which do not come within the scope of an umpire’s duties, as published in the handbook. Any party may appeal against a decision, made by the Officers of the Association, to the Council, whose decision shall be final and binding.
6. ALL COMPETITORS MUST USE BOWLS BEARING AN I.B.B. STAMP DATED 2005 OR LATER.
7. Within 72 hours of the published closing date of the previous round the player named first on the list is the Challenger and will offer his Opponent three (3) dates, which must not be all in one CALENDAR WEEK, but must be prior to the closing date, one of which must be accepted. The CALENDAR WEEK runs from Monday to Sunday. Matches can only be played at weekends by mutual agreement of the competitors. Dates cannot be given for the next round before the end of the preceding round, except by mutual agreement. The Challenger will have choice of green.
8. Score cards must be completed by each side and include the player's names. These will be signed by the skips and cards retained by the winning team/player

9. The result must be emailed or telephoned to the Competition Secretary & Webmaster within 24 hours of the completion of the match, except for matches played on the closing date of the round which must be emailed or telephoned in on the day of the match.
10. Where the Challenged side cannot accept any of the offered dates due to prior commitments to competitions of a higher level, the general practice is for one or more extra dates to be offered.
11. Competition rounds must be completed by the closing date for each round which is published in the Associations Handbook & on the LBDA Website.
12. a) The Semi-finals will be played on a neutral green (except where both teams are from the same club) on date agreed with the COMPETITION SECRETARY. b) The Finals will be played on a date and a green arranged by the COMPETITION SECRETARY. Normally, this will be the PRESIDENTS green unless there are unforeseen circumstances.
13. SUBSTITUTES: Substitutes are permitted in all competitions except the singles in accordance with the rules below. In the event of a substitute being used common decency requires that the opponents are informed. The substitute shall also be made known to the Competition Secretary when the result is forwarded to him. No one person can play for two different teams in the same competition.
• In Pairs and Triples one - and the same - player may be substituted.
• In Fours two - and the same two - players may substitute.
• In Mixed Pairs one player of each gender – and the same players – may substitute.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO RESTRICTION ON HOW MANY TIMES A SUBSTITUTE MAY PLAY.
ORIGINAL PLAYER (S) MAY ALSO RETURN TO THE TEAM AFTER A SUBSTITUTE HAS PLAYED.
In each competition the substitute may skip.
